Best Trekking Places in Himachal Pradesh

Tourist Place Lahaul & Spiti comprises two subdivisions of the same names with their headquarters at Keylong for Lahaul and Kaza for Spiti. The Buddhist monastories punctuate the ethereal beauty of the area. Rohtang pass at the height of 3980m is gateway to the stark and forbidding landscape.

 Rohtang pass is the best place to visit  are the high bare hills ,step ridges , deep ravines and cliffs of naked rocks patches by refreshing greenery around villages on banks running streams. Lahual , a derivative of Tibetan Lho-yul 'country in the south' or of Lhahi-yul counry of the gods' provides a mix of Buddhism and hinduism with eighteen gompas and many temples , two of which at Trilokinath and Udaipur are known for exquisite carvings. Keylong(3350 m): Green fields all around and a small township is Keylong, the district headquarters of Lahaul where sits the Deputy Commissioner and district officers of other Departments.

1. Gramphu



On the way to keylong from Rohtang , 67km from manali, is the bifurcation point for keylong and kaya.

2 . Khokasar



First village of the valley as one descends from Rohtang La. Flat roofed houses and herbage attract the attention.

3.  Sissu:- 




Lahaul's patron deity, Gyephang resides here in a monastery. It's marshy plains are stopover migratory birds. It is 21 km from keylong towards Rohtang. 




4 Gondola :- 




The most distinctive feature of this village is the eight storeyed timber and stone tower that was once the residence of the local 'thakur' cheif.

Connected to all major cities in India through Chandigarh & Shimla. Air reaching :- by air up to Bhunter & then 165 km by car or taxi.


Important Things to Carry on a Himachal Trekking Tour

- Suitable and waterproof back-pack

- Trekking gears: sleeping bags and mats, rucksack, ropes and walking stick

- Waterproof clothing: jackets, windcheater and other similar

- Proper shoes

- Water bottles

- Clothes according to the season

- Caps or hats, towels and handkerchiefs

- An extra pair of socks, shoe laces and undergarments

- Torchlight with extra cells and bulbs

- Basic medicines and first-aid kits

- Matchbox or lighter, insect repellents, plastic bags and toiletry items
